An Elkington Electrotype Inkwell: Islamic Design c1860SOLD

This Silver Gilt and Laquer inkwell was made by Elkington & Co c1860.

The originators of silver-plating Elkington & Co began their research in times of the industrial revolution.  At the time Islamic designs were very much in fashion and Elkington & Co were often given permission to copy much older pieces.

The inkwell measures 11.5cm tall and 9cm across the base.

It is in good condition however on top some gilding is wearing and laquer is missing.
