A pair of Georg Jensen Silver Pepper and Salt Shakers by Henning K�ppelSOLD
This beautiful pair of modernist silver pepper and salt shakers were designed by the renowned and award winning designer Henning Köppel for Georg Jensen.
They are Georg Jensen design number 1102A (Illustrated in the best book on Georg Jensen silver: "Holloware: The Silver Fund Collection"), where designed by Henning Köppel in 1962 and have English Import marks for 1968. It is more than a little brave to undertake such an elegant and understated design, and these peppers are wonderful examples of their time. They feel solid in the hand, and are a beautiful and elegant design. Henning Köppel is nowadays one of, if not the most celebrated designers to work for Georg Jensen, and his work is very saught after. In addition these are a design which was never reproduced, and this fact as well as the import marks prove that they are period pieces.
Each piece stands 8cm tall and the total weight is 93g.
The shakers are in lovely used condition- they show light wear and are developing a good patina. One of them has a slight crease at the base where it has been put down a little too enthusiastically, but this only shows on very close inspection. I have included a very close up photograph which makes it look far worse than it is!
Additionally the salt shaker is a little stained underneath from the salt- again I have photographed this. The synthetic stoppers are a little stiff, but will loosen up with use. These peppers haven't been used in a number of years, judging by the pepper and salt i removed from them on buying them!
Each is marked Georg Jensen, Denmark, Sterling, the design number (1102A) and HK for Henning Köppel. The Import marks are for London 1968, and bear the makers mark GJ Ltd for Georg Jensen Ltd, the UK branch of Georg Jensen responsible for importing their products in to the UK for sale.Need more info?
