A Norwegian Silver Beaker Bergen 1843SOLD

This rare and beautiful Norwegian silver beaker was made in Bergen in 1843 and is of lovely quality.

Norwegian silver is both fine and rare, very much the secret gem of Scandinavian silver tradition. The main centres of production changed throughout the ages, but the most important centres were Bergen and Tronjdheim. This beaker is a wonderful example of the craft of the Norwegian silversmith!

Mechanised production in silver came to Norway quite late, and so much 19th century Norwegian silver has the feel of completely hand raised and made 17th and 18th century silver elsewhere. This beautiful beaker stands on three ball feet, is decorated with wrigglework swags in the neo-classical manner, and has a beautiful fine patina.

The Norwegian silver beaker is approximately 8cm tall by 8cm in diameter.

The beaker is in wonderful condition with no problems of any kind. It is very well marked, and in excellent order.

A beautiful piece of Norwegian silver which would grace any table, or collectors cabinet!
