101149
This magnificent Victorian Claret Jug was made by the renowned Elkington and Company in 1886.
Both elegant and highly ornate, this fine Victorian Claret Jug would grace any table. It is made of silver plate and lead crystal, star cut at the base. The workmanship is wonderful, the top being wonderfully adorned with vine and grape motifs. The finial is a heraldic lion supporting a shield, on to which a family coat of arms could be engraved. It is marked for Elkington inside the lid, as pictured.
The claret jug is 11.5 inches tall.
The claret jug is in excellent condition with no damage or repair of any kind. The lead crystal too is perfect.
A wonderful piece of late Victorian tableware. These are beuatiful empty, but are truly magnificent with a bottle of good red wine in them!
