A Set of Silver and Mother of Pearl fruit cutlery, for 12 personsSOLD
Silver and Mother of Pearl fruit cutlery, in the Georgian style.
Made in Sheffield 1906 this beautiful cutlery is of stunning design and craftsmanship. The blades and tines are solid silver, as are the ferrules and caps. Each handle comprises of four wonderful strips of Mother of Pearl set in solid silver. This is a Georgian design, originally made around 1760, but wonderfully and cleverly brought to life here.
Each fork measures 165mm while the knives are each 193mm. The box is 245mm by 320mm, and is made of walnut veneer and brass.
While of beautiful quality, sadly a little of the veneer has flaked on one corner of the box, revealing the solid wood underneath. I have pictured this damage. In all other respects the cutlery is in super condition with chips, cracks or problems.
