An Ottoman Silver snuff Box. Niello: possibly 18th Century Turksh Silver?SOLD
This beautiful and heavy gauge little box is quite charming. It is Ottoman silver, with geometric Niello designs, and I believe it may be 18th century, but perhaps it is early 19th. It is of excellent gauge- very heavily made. It measures 6x3.5x2cm and weighs 77.7g.
I believe it to be Ottoman in origin, but cannot say for certain whether it is Turkish silver. There are no hallmarks, but it is crudely engraved with Arabic numerals. I am unsure as to whether these have any genuine significance, or have been added later.
