A Fine Georgian silver Tumbler CupSOLD

Made in London 1761 by Jonathan Payne
Traditionally, tumbler cups were designed for the then bumpy activity of travelling. Thus they needed to withstand the uneven and unsettled movements of horse drawn coaches. A round bottom and gravity would keep the liquid in the cup. This one is marked on the side, which is rarer and more desirable than those where the marks are hidden underneath.

Measurements
5cm tall. 56 grams.

Type: cup
Function: drinking
Maker: Jonathan Payne
Country: England
