A Pair of American Sterling Silver Tea CaddiesSOLD
This stunning pair of Sterling Silver tea caddies are marked Sterling for Carrington and Company, New York. This is a retailers stamp. Carrington were, in fact, an English company and these caddies were made in England, but exported to the States without British Hallmarks. This is why they are simply marked "Sterling, New York", and the company name of Carrington. English silver is also Sterling standard, and so these are identical quality to any which were made and hallmarked in England rather than exported to the United States for sale as American Sterling Silver.
They are in the George I style, and bear a wonderful armorial engraving on each. Furthermore the lids are engraved with the family crest, as illustrated.
Each caddy is 5 inches tall and they are in superb condition with no damage or repair. A beautiful pair of Sterling Silver Tea Caddies.
