A rare Victorian Novelty Silver Mr Toby Pepper Pot by James Barclay HennelSOLD

This rare and collectable silver pepper was made in London and bears hallmarks for 1880. The maker is James Barclay Hennell. These peppers were made in association with the famous Punch mustard pot, by James Barclay Hennell, and this is "Mr Toby", Punch's dog! "Mr Toby" is perhaps the most desirable silver dog pepper available to the market. It is beautifully made, heavy and a charming but realistic model.

This is a beautiful and very rare piece of Victorian novelty silver. Novelty peppers like this are very desirable, and when of Victorian silver or even Edwardian, are really rather valuable.

This fine novelty pepper is in excellent condition, fully hallmarked on the base and collar, stands approximately 3.5 inches or 7cm and weighs 117g.
