A boxed set of silver berry spoons and sugar sifterSOLD

These beautiful spoons were originally made in London 1791 by Smith and Fearne. The sugar sifter is 1776, by Thomas Chawner. However, in approximately 1870 these spoons received the most incredible decoration and parcel gilding, to turn them from ordinary table spoons to a dessert set, comprising of four berry spoons and a sugar sifter.

One often bemoans the Victorian practice of later decorating beautiful Georgian silver, but in this case the decoration is so stunning one couldn't possibly complain! A really wonderful example of the chasers art, and beautifully parcel gilt.
