A Huge Antique Burmese Silver Bowl SOLD
This Magnificent silver bowl is Burmese silver and of unusually large size. It is approximately 72oz and 8 inches tall by approximately 15 inches wide at the widest point. It is 12 inches at the lip.
The relief decoration on this Burmese bowl is beautifully rendered. It depicts charming pastoral scenes, bullocks, paddy fields and farmers, as well as traditional Burmese houses on stilts. The relief is very deep- the characters stand quite proud of the surface, a considerable feat of the siversmith's art. The bowl bears a dedication underneath as pictured.
I would assume it to date from the late 19th or possibly early 20th centuries.
A very fine Burmese silver bowl.
