A Georgian Irish Silver Coffee PotSOLD

An antique Georgian Irish Silver coffee pot made in Dublin, circa 1760. Irish silver of this period is much rarer than English silver, but no less beautiful and of the same excellent quality. This Georgian Silver Coffee pot is a very fine example, of excellent gauge and in wonderful condition.

Irish antiques are valuable due to rarity as I have already mentioned, and Irish silver craftsmen were every bit the equal of their English counterparts. Therefore this Georgian Irish silver coffee pot is of the excellent quality one would expect of the very best of Dublin silversmiths.

However, it bears no makers mark! While the quality of Irish silver is on par with the London silversmiths the same cannot be said of the hallmarking! It is not unusual to find pieces of Irish silver in the 18th century which have no date letter and even lack a makers mark, such as this example. One would have thought the craftsman would be proud enough of this stunning Irish silver coffee pot to have struck his mark, but he did not!
