A Sterling Siver Vesta CaseSOLD
This silver Vesta Case was made in London in 1919 by Frederick Thomas Buckthorpe, a specialist maker of boxes, card cases and vesta cases. A silver vesta case is a box for matches, sometimes called a match safe, with a striker. It was intended for the gentleman's pocket.
This beautiful example of a silver vesta case is engine turned, and of excellent quality. It has a very fine concealed hinge- a difficult silversmithing feat! The vesta is in good condition with a tightly fitting lid. The engine turning is slightly worn, as one would expect of an item this age, which has been handled and used!
A beautiful silver vesta case of very good quality.
