A Pair of Georgian Silver CandlesticksSOLD
This pair of Georgian silver candlesticks were made in London 1758 by John Perry and are of excellent quality. They are cast, and stand 10.5cm tall. Each Georgian Silver candlestick has a removable sconce, and these are unmarked. This is not unusual at this period, when sconces were only just becoming popular. Many pairs of silver candlesticks were bought without sconces, which were added a little later when it became unfashionable to be without them.
These Candlesticks are of a classic and very desirable design, which started around this time, and carried on in fashion until the 1780s.
Both candlesticks are solid sterling silver, hallmarked underneath for London 1757 and bear the makers mark of John Perry.
A very fine pair of Georgian candlesticks in a classic design.
