A Pair of Georgian Silver Wine Coasters by William BatemanSOLD
This pair of Regency silver wine coasters were made in 1821, London, by William Bateman. They are of fine quality, and elegant late Georgian design.
They are both fully marked around the bases. The marks are rubbed but readable, which is quite normal for silver wine coasters of this period. It was normal practice to fit the wooden bases by hammering the silver around them. It was required that any wood or non-precious materials were left out of a piece for hallmarking, and so the hallmarks are often compromised slightly by the fitting of the wooden bases.
In all respects these are an excellent and beautiful pair of Georgian Silver Wine Coasters. They measure 16.5cm diameter and 5cm in height.
