A Limoges Enamel Pendant
This incredible Limoges enamel pendant was made circa 1905. In this portrait the vivid blue colour beautifully stands out against the black base, and the portrait is framed with fine guilt metal.
During the Middle Ages, Limoges became famous for enamel-producing, using a technique to paint enamel on metal surface. Dark colour enamel was often painted first in layers of enamel, and then translucent enamel was painted one after another.
The pendant measures 6.3cm in length and5.4cm in width.
