A large 18th Century Swedish Silver Beaker
This Swedish Silver beaker was made in Jonkoping, 1780 and is of very fine quality and design. Of very traditional form, this beaker is superior to the norm, having a very finely lobed foot and wriggle work border at the lip and foot. It is also engraved with traditional Scandinavian motifs, and an empty cartouche which shows no signs of erasure. Around the lip, foot and interior it is gold washed, and due to age this gold has taken on a very beautiful "lemon" quality. It is original mercury gilding, and has not been refreshed or regilt.
The beaker is of large size, standing 11.5cm tall and 9.5cm at the lip. A fine and superior example of a traditional Swedish silver Beaker.
