A Fine Victorian Silver Claret Jug by Elkington
This magnificent silver Claret Jug was made by the celebrated firm of Elkington, Birmingham 1860. It is of superb quality, beautifully decorated with tendrils of vine and grapes. It is fully marked under the lip, as pictured, and is in wonderful condition. The original glass is acid etched and engraved, giving it a beautiful contrasting frost effect which sets of the delicate ornamentation of the silver beautifully.
The claret jug measures a fraction under 34cm tall from base to handle. A very fine piece of Victorian silverware for the dining table.
