A Georgian Silver Gilt SugarboxSOLD
This magnificent silver gilt box is both rare and highly unusual. It was made by William Brown in London, 1830.
It is, in fact, a faithful reproduction of a Charles II sugar box, c1670. It is highly atypical to find a carolean reproduction made in the 1830's as 17th century silver was not commonly appreciated until the late Victorian/Edwardian period and the Arts and Crafts movement.
It weighs 719g and measures 13cm to the handle, 18cm width and 16cm in length.
