An Old Sheffield Plate Sugar VaseSOLD
This charming Old Sheffield Plate sugar vase was made circa 1780 and is of neoclassical design. It is wonderfully pierced so that the light catches the cobalt blue glass liner, and around the base are hand chased Acanthus leaf decoration. The rim and foot both have a fine beaded border.
It is 12cm without the handle, and approximately 18cm when the handle is up. It is in very good condition with some copper showing as one likes to see on Old Sheffield (evidence it has not been replated). At the top border there is a tiny split, which really doesn't notice in the life, but I have included a very closeup picture to indicate this.
